ABOUT FAVA 2023

FAVA Congress 2023 jointly organised by the Malaysia Veterinary Medical Association (MAVMA) and Federation of Asian Veterinary Associations (FAVA) and Co-Hosted by the Department of Veterinary Services Malaysia, Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak, and Sarawak Veterinary Association will focus on the exponential growth taking place in the veterinary sector in Asia region.

Boasting with FAVA strong 24 country members namely Australia, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tajikistan, Timor Leste, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, United Arab Emirates, United State of America, Associate member from Asian Society of Conservation Medicine, Wildlife Disease Association Asia Pacific Section as well as affiliate member VNU Asia Pacific, the congress provides great opportunities for partners to deep dive into the latest science, method, and technologies available and covers a wide range of topics by bringing together over 800 key opinion leaders, industry thoughts leaders, colleagues. and students from all around the region.

This is the best platform for colleagues in the industry to have knowledge exchange and sharing of real case studies over networking sessions. FAVA Congress has been fortunate in past years to have many supporters from FAVA members and organisations like yourselves and we are hopeful that this 22nd FAVA Congress 2023 will be no exception.

Malaysian Veterinary Medical Association (MAVMA)

Malaysian Veterinary Medical Association (MAVMA) is a professional association for all the registered veterinary surgeons under the Malaysian Veterinary Council. The association is also opened to veterinary scientists as associate members, veterinary students and other veterinary related associations can be affiliated to MAVMA. This
association was registered on 23rd January 1989 under the Society Act 1966.

Federation of Asian Veterinary Associations (FAVA)

The idea of forming a regional organization whose membership would be composed of the different professional veterinary association of Asia was initiated by the officers of the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) in December, 1974 led by its
President, Dr. Teodulo M. Topacio, Jr. FAVA was formed on 22nd February 1978 with veterinary associations from Philippines, Malaysia, China Indonesia, Japan and Korea as founding members. Since its founding, FAVA has held the FAVA Congress every two years, hosted by the respective country’s Veterinary Association.

Department of Veterinary Services Malaysia

DVS has a role in delivering the Veterinary services which is expanding throughout the years. People tend to misunderstanding the meaning of Veterinary whereby it is constantly being judged in the sense of unpreparedness and insecurity and in an increasing challenges, especially with emergence diseases crossing borders, new
diseases, old diseases that reappear, food security, sovereignty national food resources, welfare animals that are all demanding to service delivery more efficient veterinarians and professional.

Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak

The Sarawak Veterinary Services started as an Animal Husbandry Branch in the Department of Agriculture in 1953 and in the year 2000 the branch was upgraded to one of the five Divisions of the department. The Veterinary Public Health 1999 was passed by the State Assembly on 6th December, 1999 and enforced on 1st June
2000. The State Veterinary Authority (SVA) was appointed on 5th May, 2000.

Sarawak Veterinary Association

Sarawak Veterinary Association is made of ordinary, life, student and honorary members which consist of Veterinarians and students pursuing a degree in Veterinary medicine resident in Sarawak, Malaysia.
